Rabies
Two Rabies vaccines ( Imovax and RabAvert) are currently available for active immunization of humans in Canada. Pre-exposure rabies immunization is offered to people at potentially high risk of contact with rabid animals. Travellers to endemic areas where there is no easy access to rabies immune globulin (RabIg) products for post-exposure management should also consider pre-travel immunization.
Three doses of rabies vaccine are required for active immunization and should be given on 0, 7 and 21 days.
